I don't need to send you a pm i'll tell you on an open forum to stay as far away from that con man as you possibly can! He got me with the Christian hunting club bit. I am very sure that he had me trespassing at least once.

While visiting our camp a couple of months ago, the Holmes county GW told me that he caught the gentleman in question putting hunters out on land that he did not have permission to hunt last season and that this behavior is old news with this guy. He's been caught over and over again.

And where there's smoke there is typically fire.

We also were victims of Cal Burwell's ads requesting a membership for a two member Christian deer camp. Since we have small boys who enjoy hunting, it sounded like the perfect camp; however, when we'd go to the camp, the gates were always locked. We'd call Cal and his response would be "I didn't lock them. The other member must have done it". We never got a key to the locks. Year after year, we see his ad in the Market Bulletin and laugh because we realize now that it's all bogus.

That's John L Burwell, Jr. We had a guy from the FBI come by our house one time looking for Calvin. He is like a 3rd cousin and a total piece of chit. Somebody will catch up with him, one day.

Rees, not the same guy, this Calvin Burrell usually advertises in the Market Bulletin, don't know why they still let him advertise??? But I still see his advertisements for deer hunts, quail hunts, turkey hunts, etc. most are geared towards advertising for Christian or father son hunts, etc giving you the impression he is a good guy. I wish people that have been screwed would really light up the phone lines to the AG commissioner so they would stop his advertising! Or hope someone that gets wronged give him a good beat down!

He tried that crap on me the same year I hooked up with George to form Whispering Pines. My brother Mike and I met him at Logan's in Jackson to discuss what he had to offer. He gave us some business about not having to plant plots, work on roads, etc., and kept wanting to show us pictures of trophy deer that his members had killed. We walked out of there suspicious of him so we did what so many of you have and that's get on the forums and ask around. I had several folks get on the phone with me and describe exactly what he had done and where. They had landowners and leaseholders catching them on land they thought they were paying to hunt. Neighbors of his called me and told me that his mother worked in the tax accessor office for Holmes county and they had been "punished" via higher land taxes for locking him out of their land by being assessed for improvements that had always been there. He did things such as putting his own locks on their gates, cutting their locks, and there was even a couple of accusations of arson. They were afraid of him. Now this is all hearsay and I can't testify to the truth of it so I repeat it now with this disclaimer but I wouldn't even break bread at the same table with him much less trust him further that I could throw him while standing on my hands!

He told me the same crap last year. He had an ad running for a 1500 acre club in Holmes County. I called and left a message, then he called me back later. He told me if I did some tractor work for him I could hunt for free....told me about all these different parcels I could hunt and all the big deer he has. Thought I hit a gold mine...before we get off the phone I asked what his name was and all he said was Cal...after that I remembered my buddy that got screwed by someone that sounded just like this guy....I called my friend and asked him what the guy's phone number was and sure it enough it was the same number that Cal called me from. The next morning I texted him asking if his last name was Burwell - he immedietly called me but I didn't answer, then he sent this text - "I got all my spots filled and we got a good deer already with a bow thank u for calling and GOD BLESS YOU" Once he knew I knew who he was all his spots were conveniently filled. I can't believe this guy has not gotten seriously hurt yet.

I too was a victim along with several others. Said we had 1500 acres and only 12 members. There were multiple tracts of land and when we finally all started bumping into each other we came up with over 20 paying members not to mention the fact we were run off 2 tracts for tresspassing. He was also doing paid hunts by the day as well. He advertises REGULARLY in the market bulletin. Has one right now for trophy turkey hunts guided and unguided and videoed on request. Unless he got more land...what we had didn't have a turkey on it!!!!!! Most ebenezer folks are SCARED to death of him but the few that ran us off were not and they actually apologized for us being CONNED and said he does it every year. Big dove hunt, quail hunts, deer, and turkey hunts all in market bulletin every year. Always christian, non drinking advertisement. BEWARE!!!!!!!

So why don't people either file charges, file a complaint with the AG commissioner to stop his posting, or just whoop his Arse?
