Well friday me and ole bukfever took a trip out the the turkey wood along with his son D MAN.. We were doing some scouting had a blast found some good sign. I have never owned snake boots in my life. I have always wore lacrosse and muck. Well for my birthday i got a pair of rockys from my wife to turkey hunt in. I really liked them. So i figure the first trip to scout i would start breaking them in. Well guess what i needed them. First time wearing them i get struck by a pygmy rattler on the side of my left leg. Needless to say i learned some dance moves i didnt know i had in my bag.BigGrin But if anyone was wondering if the work. Well they do...

Wow, that is crazy. I came upon a cottonmouth yesterday. Kind of funny considering I decided not to wear my snake boots beforehand thinking surely there was no way I'd run across one.

I have never had one strike at me when I had snake boots on, and only once without them, which is why I bought them. I don't know if a pygmy (ground rattler?) would have gotten through a pair of Mucks or Lacrosse, but he could definitely get through a pair of running shoes. I saw a snake yesterday, too. With this mild winter, they have probably been out since December if they even went "in" at all.

I was wondering if it was the same thing but from what i was told they are different. I have been shown a "ground rattler" and it looks nothing like the snake that i stepped on. But i have no idea if anyone has and info i would like to know..

Dadgummit! I didn't even think about snakes last year. Even after my buddy yanked me back and threw me to the ground cause I was about to step in front of a coiled up Cottonmouth. Now, after reading this board Crying Crying

I have heard that a high population of hogs keeps snake populations low. Anyone else ever heard that?
