I used to pour and paint my own, but don't have the time or want to anymore.

Bought 200 today - 1/16 ball head/w/collar/painted for $20. Not bad.

Does the sickle hook make it easier to get the hook out when it is in the roof of the mouth? You know, when the eye makes it hard to pop out. I like the conventional hook, but I have never tried the sickle. If it ain't broke, I don't fix it.

If you like eyes on those home painted jigs, get some black jig paint and use a toothpick. Dip.. dot

You want the hook to be hard to get out. Or at least I do. Throw you a pencil in the boat with you. A pencil with a good eraser will work wonders !

I tried to edit my typing but couldn't on my cell phone. EASY you gewb not east. the barb is smaller so they come off the Mo glos. On the Sickle hooks, the gap is larger so there's a better chance to get the hook set and not pull it out of their mouths

When I use jigs with regular hooks or road runners, I'll bend the hook up with a pair of needle nose pliers towards the jig, then open it out to make the opening wider so I have a better chance for a hook set

Always been a single pole guy, so really never had much trouble with hook set. May need to change if I stick with spider rigging.

I've noticed a big difference in my catch ratio since I went to Sickle hooks or bending them out abit when spider rigging. I GOT to single pole more to learn. I bought a spider rigging setup as soon as I started crappie fishing so I ain't done much single poling
