Anybody started finding sheds in the North/Northwest Mississippi area? Heard some people have been finding some and others are still getting racked bucks on camera. Need to get an idea if it would be worth heading out to the land and walking for hours in the hope of finding one or two Glare

In tunica county as of Friday they were still toting horns. I had 9 different bucks with both sides intact on cam Friday.

I picked up a fresh shed with blood still on it in tuica county this saturday. But I would be willing to bet the majority still have them on.

Not way north but I'm still looking at 95% carrying on me right now. By the weekend I expect to start seeing a change in that. But the warmer weather and low stress level (IMO) has the deer carrying strong. I normally see a good many on the ground right now. Definitely enough to go look but currently I'm not seeing it. I walked prob 4 miles Sunday looking and found one small shed and a dead head. And found another fresh shed the week before. But I'm getting alot of pictures right now and they are all carrying bone. Looks like first week of march will be the time to really hit it. They are fertilizing wheat right now too so it's kinda now or never on these ag wheat fields. Alot are already tall and once they start jumping behind the fertilizer it will end the chances at finding some of the easy ones. I have a wedding Saturday but plan on covering some ground Sunday. I have one camera that's been buk central. Probably will check it tomorrow and Saturday. Hopefully by then it shows at least a couple shed out

Let me say this though, odds are there are a few on the ground at this time so you do have a chance of making a find or two if you go. But If your waiting for a one trip best odds type deal then wait til the first of march. Personally id go this weekend

Think the majority are still holding on Bobby G. Me and two others walked my place for 3 hours Sunday afternoon and just found an old shed. Won't hurt to walk this weekend, but your best bet is to give it a week or two.

I walked all over my place Sunday following beat down trails, checking creek and ditch crossings, and especially trails through thickets with no luck. On the bright side I got plenty of exercise and found a few more places I'd like to have a stand next season.

Just checked a cam again. Prob 10 dif bucks. None shed. Longer they wait, the tougher they are to find for me.

I found my best set of matching sheds on feb 18th in claiborne co last year while I was doing some post season scouting . I wanted to go this week because of my find last year but i am thinking next week and the week after would prolly be better.

Checked another cam tonight. It showed a new little six point that had ditched one side. That makes only two confirmed bucks that I have cammed since season that have shed a side. one completely shed out the first week in February and now this little dude. I think over the next ten days to 2 weeks a large percentage of bone is due to hit the ground.

Was it under water or anything? Looks like last years shed by how dark it is where it was attached to the pedicle, but I'd be surprised it wasn't chewed up if you found it in those woods. Nice bone!

Man I appreciate all the feedback on this. I was supposed to get to go home and walk the land over this weekend but some unnamed professors at my school decided to give me three tests on monday and tuesday Cursing Not bad bone there my friend hoping to get several like that this year. I get a big adrenaline rush just finding a shed. Almost as much as killing one. But not quite haha

You need to get that studying out of the way so you can help me find those sheds this weekend.

I've got about four bucks that have dropped both sides and one that only has one side on camera. Most are still toting bone.

Found two more this morning. One fresh and one old one. Nice to finally be finding a few. One was on a wheat field edge and the other was about 20 feet in the woods off the same field. The fresh one is pretty cool. He has a whole lot of brow tine for a small deer.

I walked for 3.7 miles today according to my gps and didn't find the first bone, well besides cow bones next to the levee. I pulled 4 more cards today and all bucks but two are still toting horns.
