My brother and I left early Saturday to make it up to my camp to give them a try. The morning started off quiet with no activity. We made a move late morning and still no luck. Walked back to camp and had a quick snack of some grilled deer sausage. We decided to go try another spot before my brother had to leave to get back home. We got to our spot, parked and started walking in. We came across a fresh track not far from our parking spot which gave us a little pick me up. We got all set up and made a few calls. To our dismay after a couple hours nothing had shown or made a sound. I knew it was getting close to time for my brother to have to leave, so I told him lets sit for 20 more minutes. I made a few raspy yelps on my mouth call and went quiet. A few minutes later, I hear my brother whisper there's a bird! Soon I saw him across the food plot just inside the woods. When he stepped into the edge of the field I made a few soft yelps and he blew up. After a couple minutes, he started making his way toward the decoys. Another few soft yelps and he blew up again. He turned and came in and stopped. He never made a sound the entire approach. I could not hold off anymore and put it on him. 43 steps and he never flopped. The first bird that we've killed while hunting together and man the adrenaline was full force. 8.5" beard, 15/16" spurs and 19 lbs. T.O.D 1:00 p.m.
