Went fishing yesterday morning at one of the sloughs off the coldwater river till about noon. Water depths are low! at deepest about 2ft. we caught a nice bass and 2 reel nice cats early. We were making our way back to the truck and hit some stick ups before we headed home. we caught 3 crappie at 2- 2 1/2 lbs each, the bite turned on as we were leaving. The wind picked up slightly and we were able to sneek up on the fish easier we would have caught more I believe but we had to go due to my buddy having to work that night. We got the boat loaded up and another fisherman came in also, he had 2 crappie that went close to 3lbs and he caught a really nice cat. It wont be long before we start limiting out on crappie in these sloughs as long as the water level doesn't get to low to where we cant get a boat in... Good luck!!
