We mix , wheat / pasture oats / and clover with good results .
Hard to neat wheat oats cover fertilize then spread some white clover on top. My deer literally eat it all hear just come back in late May cut down the wheat and oats and the clover will flourish
I'll go along with the Oats, Wheat and clover combo with the clover being Durana. I've had my Durana now lasting for 3 years. Keep it simple. Too many offerings in a food plot causes competition amoung your plants. Oats, Wheat and Clover work well together.
Does the clover work well in sandy soil? Ive been planting rye/wheat the past few years and that grows great in the sandy soil, but i haven't tried clovers.
We have always mixed our own that being rape, turnips, arrow leaf clover, and wheat. Got to plant them early and apply 100lbs/ac of 13-13-13 two weeks after they come up. Then apply 100lbs/ac of 19-19-19 two weeks after first application and 100lbs ammonium sulfate two weeks after second application. Rape and turnips love P and K.

I planted some red clover on pretty sandy soils this past yr and it did well. I will be converting it to durana this fall and only time will tell how it will stand up to summer heat. The plot does get a good bit of shade throughout the day and its in a low spot so it stays somewhat damp usually.

I had great results this past yr with wheat, oats, and clover. Came back in late Feb./early March and sprayed to kill the wheat and oats and the clover took off like a weed.

What did you use to kill the wheat and oats?
