In 2022 we had near record rainfall and the Pearl River really had the western Mississippi Sound dirtied up for weeks at a time. I struggled to find quality trout consistently during that time. But so far this year we are seeing a good rebound in the salinity and a more normal year. Fishermen in LA are reporting a better year too. I’ve yet to get on a trip where I really wack ‘em all day long, but I’ve been catching some nice quality fish in recent weeks as seen here: Hammers among the dinks

I would tend to agree. I'll say up front I am not a trout fisherman. They are pretty much a by product when I'm looking for reds. But I have caught a lot of 23"-25" trout on the fly this year. 90% of them were sight fishing. But I do think there were more of the big girls hanging around this year.

I haven't caught many specks so far this spring. I have caught more nice flounder (18-20") than in previous springs. I hope this trend continues. I also target redfish!
