I have had very good luck with the original Buck Busters blend in years past but was curious if anyone here has used the premium mix that claims to last through the summer? 1st off, yes i know its cheaper to mix your own seed, that being said is the extra cost worth it and does it truly grow good through the summer? Thanks in advance

If it is the stuff in the purple and gold bag I planted some a few yrs ago. It did pretty good but I ended up disking it up in early summer when I put out lime. I planted the Ragan and Massey Mississippi mix this past year and it was a jam up winter- early summer plot. Sprayed to kill the wheat and oats in late February and had a great clover plot until the heat started killing it in late May.
The biggest advantage i have found with Buck Busters is their 50lb bag actually does plant an acre where as some of the others that claim to do not come close. Which Ragan product did you use?
It was the Mississippi Mix don't remember exact but approx 40% wheat 40% oats and 20% clover. The clover was crimson, arrowleaf and maybe one more. I have heavy deer pressure so I planted another 40lb/acre of wheat and oat and I was very pleased with the way it held up with very heavy browse. I was also very pleased with the amount of clover, I was quite supprised when I opened up the bag.

Where did you get the mix and what was the cost/bag?
I got mine from Wand's in Brookhaven. I think it was $30 a bag.
