Anybody crappie fishing in small lakes ?

will be camping and fishing this weekend will let you know the deal when i return. not to fired up will be at state park and with all the cold water.

start moving in small lakes two weeks ago, but cold weather seemed to push them back deep.

i caught a bunch of 8 to 9 inch crappie today but they were in about 8 foot of water in a small lake.it wont be long if we have some warm nights.

are any of you guys fishing south ms are is it north, east, or west.

Fished Jeff Davis yesterday (outside of Prentiss on 42) yesterday, with little results. Crappie still pretty deep and slow moving. Seeing them at 12 to 15 ft of water. Surface water temp about 50. Bass are still really slow had one didn't even feel it hit, line just tightened up.

Thanks for the info, may try tommorow if wind is not bad. Located in north central Ms.Lake was still up last weekend.Temp in pond at house was 59.5 last Sat dont figure it warmed up much this week.

i was my way back from greenville this am and saw 5 boats in a line headed south.. they had deep freezers and generators in the backs of the trucks...

I fished a small (30 acre) lake in Rankin Co. two weeks ago when the snow quit and caught 40-45 in about 2 hours. They were 2-4 feet off bottom and slow, alot of fun though. I have been at work up north since. Will be home Wed and going to hit them again.

Tried em Sunday. Not much happening, temp in lake was around 53 to 54 degrees. Wife and I finally caught 4 fish. Most were within two feet of bottom in channel, maybe it will warm up this week.
