Davis update

The last few days, bait has been everywhere in Davis, attracting mainly school trout and white trout. Out of about 30 specks, I got two keepers and a few white trout in the cooler, along with a few nice reds. I decided to throw the net just to see what was down there, and came up with about 30 lbs of pogies. Kept a few for bait, and caught the only sizable speck of the day along with about 12 more little ones. The early mornings have been cool and full of activity. You can see fish hitting the bait all over, although many are hardheads. I am just waiting for that big one . . .

Nice report.
How far up in the bayou. I live right by it and wonder how far the fish will come up in there?
Nice restraint holding out for the 'big one'...you must know one of those lil 'schoolie' hardheads aint going to win the classic!!!...[wink]
I forgot to mention that in my report yesterday. I also saw tons of bait everywhere I went. I times the schools of glass minnows in front of the boat made it look like a wake before I got there. Other times the pogeys were thick and you could see all that flashing sliver under the water.

Visibility was also great. I could see 2 to 2 1/2 feet around the big island across from Kessler. A lot of Stain giving it a deep amber color but you could definitely see shells on the bottom fairly deep.

I went a little beyond where Davis splits off from Simmons, but I imagine the bait and the fish were further in than that.
