This is a big one. Close to five foot or better and very heavy. Thirteen or fourteen rattlers.

And he lived!

But I had to get him out of my yard.

I turned him loose out on Shelby. You be careful now.
Love the first pic. Thanks for sharing!

Have lived in diamondback country nearly a year and still haven't came across one yet...

Your time is coming
You definitely out of your mind. I am sure glad you didn't relocate him in the same county as me.
Very cool, glad you didn't whack him
Good on you for relocating him. It is nice to see someone that is not standing there over a dead snake. That really is a nice one there, do not see many that big.

How did you go about catching him without getting him really mad? One that large would be really difficult to control.

Damondbacks are the least aggressive of the venomous snakes. I also find that the bigger they are the less aggressive they are. I'd rather catch a 6 footer than a 3 footer. I like to have failed to get this one to coil up and rattle. BTW, in case someone is wondering, I do not catch them with my hands. I handle them with a long stick and never get even close to what I think they're striking distance is.
Cool deal but hopefully folks realize relocating them aint for just anyone. Very dangerous to handle them for just anyone. I'm sure you've had experience with it...don't blame you for not killing it. But for most people that SHOULD NOT be an option in their yard/home area.
Good looking snake, glad he is still a rat killing machine.
