An old man once told me that the best way to kill a turkey was to shoot it in the head! his point was there are many ways to hunt a turkey but you have to shoot him to see him flop. I personnally would rather call a bird in than decoy a bird, but i have done both. There are times when decoys are priceless nad times when they are a henderance. If you are really playing the chess game and you have to move a few times a decoy can do more harm than good. With all that being said, I like to see em flop!!!!

I like it when he comes through the woods head jumping from side to side (giving me the eye) looking for the hen and all he finds is ME!
There is nothing like beating one at his own game, and seeing that "I just messed up" look when he realizes that he did in fact just get beat

Your right about that preach. you can take a hen and lay her on the ground in front of a jake and sit back and watch the show however if you like your jake decoy I suggest you shoot fast cause the gobbler will tear him to pieces!

Full strut or not, I just want to kill my first bird this year!!![crying]
When you kill your first one you will be prouder of it than your biggest buck. Hope you can get that monkey off your back!
I know you right! This will be my 2nd full year to hunt and I'm already hooked. I can't imagine how it's gonna be when I finally get to dust some feathers! Needless to say, but, my wife is not going to be to happy.[biggrin]

My dad called up my first one for me when I was 11 and I started hunting by myself the next day but didn't kill another one till I was 16 on opening morning and killed another one the following morning, I didn't stop smiling all week. Those 5 years taught me more than anyone ever could have.
