Japanese Millet

I have a spot I plan to broadcast some millet in. it has a couple inches of standing water/muddy ground due to all of the rain. if I was to spread it out on the water/wet mud will it wait to germinate until the ground dries up? or should I just hold off until the rains back off a little?

In my experience jap millet seed will germinate in the mud but will rot in standing water. I'd get in in now where it is not flooded and continue to seed following the water down. No rain will be needed. But if you wait until it is dry you will require a rain and weed control.

This came up in mud and out grew the nutgrass and smartweed.

Agree with Greg. we had nice germ out of rice that we broadcasted into standing water but the millet didn't make. How are the beans coming?
Doing really well! I let them grow in some and they are now gown up in a little smartweed, sprangletop, and barnyard grass so I'm pretty happy right now. Hoping to finish my plantings with a couple bags of jap millet. Also the wildlife sorghum ended up coming up very well and my dove field is already beginning to head out.
