I'm saddled with a couple of young ones that I'm teaching to fish.  I've been to Tippah Co. and Wall Doxey.   Both of them are pretty kid friendly, but I'm looking for other suggestions within an hour or so of Desoto County.   Don't need anything fancy - decent brim or small bass would be good for them to start on.

Below the spillway at Sardis. Go down the channel and turn to the left. Great spot. April is a great time to catch a bunch of crappie. Jigs under a slip bobber.

Thank you very much for the suggestion. My boy's spring break is in a couple of weeks. It may be too early, but I think I'll take a day or two off and we'll go try for some crappie if the weather is agreeable.
