Just had to brag on the misses a little! I took my wife and a buddy out to fish tripletail Sunday. She hasn't gotten the chance to fish since our son was born. She hasn't caught a tripletail in 3 years. That is her absolute favorite fish to catch. Saturday night I jokingly told her I was gonna take her to win the rodeos tripletail division the next day. She was first up to catch a fish as we departed the harbor. She pulled the hook on the first fish, the second one wouldn't eat anything, and then I saw number three. As I backed down she said is it big? I said yep! She said you catch it I don't want to try. I said nope first fish is yours and we don't have one yet, get up there! The fish dove as we approached and I thought uh oh. As her shrimp drifted past the crab grab I saw the fish come up and inhale the shrimp. She set the hook and it was on! Just like she hadn't missed a day of fishing she worked the fish down and got her boat side. After asking Pat to hand me the big net instead of the one I was holding I slid the net under her. She lunged and tail walked out of the net and started diving. I was pretty sure that divorce may be the end result of this trip and my netting attempt. My wife hung on and worked the fish back up. I had to net her from the rear again but this time I came up full force and over my should till the fish was on board. I honestly don't think I have ever seen her that excited. That single fish made my whole year of fishing! If I don't catch another single fish I am happy! That is exactly what I love about everyday I go to work is seeing the excitement on others faces and this time it meant so much more! She ended up winning first place tripletail at the rodeo with 16.3 lbs. congratulations Jamie Daniels the best catch of my life!
