I've never ridden on one, but a guy in know has a 24 Nautic Star. That thing is fine! From what I understand, they're real good boats
THIS.. I've heard the same.I've never ridden on one, but a guy in know has a 24 Nautic Star. That thing is fine! From what I understand, they're real good boats
is it new? I see a 224 XTS and a 2200 Sport on their website...Nautic Star 2200 XS?
Dang, that's faster than the performance of the 150hp they list!Neighbor has a NS 220. Powered by a yamaha 115. It is a fishing machine. Great ride and very dry. The 115 tops out at about 51 in good water. I would have put at least a 150 on it but 115 does the job. It is a great boat with lots of room and plenty of storage. Might be the best boat for the money.
I friend of mine has that same boat (2011 model) with the 115. Take's forever to get on plane and with a full tank of gas and two folks one of us has to go to the bow to get it on plane. It seems way underpowered with the 115. Have you had that problem? Do you have tabs?I have a1900 off shore with 115 yamaha 4stroke. Good boat very dry gets apx 2miles per gallon. Mine has a large t-top slows the boat a bit. The only negative is my leaning post takes away some rear space. The 2008 has a rear live well that reduces clearance with the leaning post. Should not be an issue in a larger model.
Are you sure on the 51 mph? I've got NS 1900 Bay with the F150 and it will only do 54. The Yamaha performance bulletin for that boat with an F150TXR shows max speed 44 mph at 6K rpm. I can't believe they would even sell him a 22' with a 115.Neighbor has a NS 220. Powered by a yamaha 115. It is a fishing machine. Great ride and very dry. The 115 tops out at about 51 in good water. I was really wondering about that as well. That is a larger boat, moving a lot of water under a 115's power and it hits 51mph? Not trying to start anything, I am just really curious about this. How high is the prop pitched? Are you sure on the 51 mph? I've got NS 1900 Bay with the F150 and it will only do 54. That is a fine boat, but at 22' and 2600 lbs I'd go with as much horsepower as you can afford. I don't think you'll be happy with a 150 on that boat. It's rated for 250. Make the dealer take you for a test ride (and take along a couple riders) before you give them your money. Thanks fellas. I'm looking at the offshore 2200 XS with a 150 yam vs the bay boat.
That boat powered with a 150, getting and staying on plane would be my concern. That's not a Yamaha spec sheet you're seeing on the Nautic Star website and take the recommendation for the 15 pitch prop for heavy loads as a "warning". Sure it might get up to 40, but you sure don't want to have to have everyone on the boat move to the bow to get on plane or stay on plane at lower speeds. You say you like running at 28. With the 150, the slightest pull back on the throttle in seas would probably take you off plane. Not sure if you are financing or not, but the 200 or 250 on that boat over 10 years would be worth a little extra on the payment. I've just known too many people who've spent a ton of money on good boats, underpowered them and regretted it. JMOOnly 2 mph diff from a 150 to a 200. I'm sure the 250 would prolly kick in maybe 12 but I can't justify the $$$ for 12 mph. According to the spec sheet the 150 will run close to 40 that's fast enough. I usually run 28.
BTW you have a very nice rig...Yes I have trim tabs, really helps keeping the bow down in the chop. Planes much better with the rear live well empty. I am thinking about relocated the well to the front seat...not installed on my boat. My 2 brothers and launched at courthouse went to south cat and back on 5.3 gallons of fuel.
