Need Deer Blood

I'm no expert but I do remember reading that you can substitute with beef blood. There's also a training kit by Jeremy Moore

thanks fullstrut! I also read several articles and a book that said beef livers will work to start the training but recommended switching to deer blood as soon as possible.

Don't you have any venison cuts in your freezer? Thaw some out in the fridge and it should drain out some deer blood...

This is what I do, and save a few trimmings for a reward at the end. Be careful not to give much if you bird hunt or they may try to eat birds, I have always been able to keep them soft mouthed on birds at an early age so I don't worry too much about them getting to taste some deer.

I do have two backstraps left. I'll use them....but that won't leave much blood to work with. Thanks for the suggestions.

I laid a 20 ft blood trail (only 2nd one) with purified liver and water and put small chunk of liver and cheese at the end of the trail. He followed all the way to end and attacked the cheese and liver...you would have thought his life depended on that piece of liver. He just turned 7 weeks.....I think he's got some real potential.
