My name is Bradley Matte. I am from Morgan City, La. I do a lot of trout fishing from Big Lake to Grand isle. I came across this forum while doing some research on the wade fishing in the Biloxi area. I will be in biloxi all weekend and would love to jump in the water and chase some trout somewhere. If anyone could share some info with me on some areas to try I would greatly appreciate it! thanks

welcome to the bull bmatte, try wading around some of the old broken piers just west of the beau rivage casino right at daylight.. are you related to Travis Matte? Good music there!![biggrin]
Welcome aboard!

There are a great group of fellas here, complete with:
- great stories
- awesome joking around
- wonderful advice
&
- incredible BS'ing!

Unfortunately, I primarily spend my time on the western side of MS and out in the marsh. But, I am sure someone from the east side will be dropping some advice later on today.
He's actually a cousin of mine down the line somehow!

I look forward to learning from all you guys! I'm definitely not looking for anyones secret holes. I'm more looking for general information on the safe areas to wade. Im a good enough fisherman to find bait and clean, moving water to catch some fat-trouts if i can be lead in the right direction!
Bradley,

Two things that I hate to type... (1) I haven't been fishing in weeks! so I have no first hand knowledge of a decent pattern right now and (2) people I have talked to say it has been pretty slow around biloxi for most fishing including specs.

That said... Ignore that and get out there! Considering the time of year, get out there as early as possible. The easiest way to point someone in the right direction that isn't familiar with wade fishing Biloxi this time of year is: Find any of the old busted up piers along highway 90 and wade around them. there will be subtle bottom changes (1 to 2 foot gullies) all along the HW90 beach. any of these old piers, you will be able to wade to the end of them (or beyond). look for baitfish. Live shrimp 2 ft under a cork is a favorite but I really like throwing a topwater plug from nautical twilight to just after sunrise. plastic under a cork works too.

good luck!

Thanks for the quick reply man! This was my plan of action from the get go. I'm a huge "lure-junkie" if I'm not throwing top water plugs I'm throwing suspending plugs. I wont have a ton of time to spend chasing the fish so the from an hour before sunup to around 8 o clock is the time frame ill be shooting for. I take it the evenings can be just as good as the mornings in these areas?

The evenings have never been as good in these areas (during summer)... for me anyway. Always seemed better on the high morning tides with cooler water
Bmatte,

I like throwing small suspending plugs when the water is this warm. I downsize to a catch jr in the heat of the summer. Mirrodine and softdine should work well too. If the wading is slow there is some great flounder gigging at night along the beach as well for a plan b.
Whats a trout? I haven't seen one of those for ages in the biloxi area! Really though it has been slow hopefully I can get out tomorrow and be able to point you in the right direction.
Welcome to the Bull Bradley. Like Capt I am a west sider so not much help on fishing the east. Tman may not have been fishing recently but he is still the Leroy Brown of fishing for that side of town.
