In the state of Louisiana Nutria are classified as a nuisance animal and are to be taken by any means all year long without limits as long as you have written permission from the landowner. They can even be taken at night with police notification.

After the duck season closes, we go shoot the nutria up in the same marshes we hunt the ducks in. It’s nice to ride through the marsh taking in the sights while getting some shooting in.

There are a couple things you can do with Nutria. There is a state program where you an get $6.00 per tail on taken Nutria and you discard the body. Don't want to do that. We take them back to a black guy who is a caretaker for many of the camps where we are. He eats them and also sells some of them to the locals, they love them. Works for everyone, we have fun and they get to eat them.
