It will all depend on personal preference from my limited knowledge. I personally like a long paddle, I use a 250 I think. I bought a used boat and it came with a 240 and I didn’t care for it. However my wife uses that same boat with that same 240 and has never complained. I think I even let her try my paddle and she liked the 240 fine.

Only canoes and pirogue experience....I always wanted the biggest, lightest, wooden single blade. Never spent the loot for the nifty camo Kayak paddles. Sometimes I would bring along a push pole with the thingy on it; helps in real shallow muck/ weed congestion. Some stand up in peros and use push poles. There is a science to it...
