Shallow water anchors

Ordered some parts from mgs4u.com should come in Thursday. I remember a thread where some guys had ordered some and was wondering how you have been holding your boat with these? Just have a small rope with a small stainless O ring tied to a cleat?

I don't use any metal hardware just a rope and knots and half hitches around a cleat for the boat hookup..

Yep the same. Works great as long as it is shallow enough and not terribly windy with current.
I just tie my rope to the pole but on the other end of the rope I have a stainless clip. Makes it easy to just clip on other places like stern lifting eyes, etc... (and can still tie on a cleat if needed)
which jb weld did you guys use to bond the couplings / tip / handle to the fiberglass with?

mine is pvc (home made & cheap "shallow water anchor")
Epoxy is what you want to use. They say to use the thinner 50/50 stuff for the tip (if you have one) because it is very tight, but for the handle the 5 minutes stuff will work fine.

I have a couple of plastic clips on the deck where it "rides". Then I used some stretch cord and some stainless rings (about 1 1/2" diameter) to make premade loops at each corner cleat. So now all I have to do is slide the anchor through the stainless ring and I am good to go (or not go really [rofl])

I did the 2 foot extension on mine so it is 10 foot. Depending on the bottom I can keep the boat in 6 - 7 feet of calm water (1 footers). If the bottom is really hard like around courthouse pier, its hard to get it to stick when its that deep, even with the stainless tip.
I also use mine as a second anchor point when the wind and current require a traditional anchor. I use my main anchor and use the stickit to keep the boat from rotating.
I don't use the SS tip I just round the fiberglass tip into a point on my grinder. I use the 2 part 24hr epoxy on the T handle.
The main reason I went with the tip was fiberglass can tend to splinter and I didn't want to take a chance on hitting an oyster shell just right and starting a splinter in the shaft. Not that I have ever seen or heard of that happening but I figured it was $10 for insurance.

My PowerPole doesn't have a tip, and I jam it into some hard stuff routinely. No issues so far. But I can see why you did it.
