Shrimp Trawl Info

I had a cousin give me this 15' shrimp trawl net that he used to use in Lake Calcasieu. I need boards and tickler chain for it. Where would be somewhere I could get this? Really anxious to get it in the water and catch my own shrimp.

That is awesome! I want to get me one one day!
Just as important is having someone set the boards properly when you buy them or build them

Unsure of any place in your area but I know Ken's Marine in Gulfport is a good place to get started. Call and tell them what you have
Wetland Man, I got a set of boards collecting dust in my attic that came off of a 16" net. They are yours if you want them. You can get some chain from Home Depot for you tickler. Just set up about so it runs about 1 1/2 to 2 feet before the lead line. I even have trail ropes for the net you can have. One will have to be respliced because we broke it pulling logs out of a creek at the camp with it. Pm me and we can set it up.

PM sent.
If you need small trawling parts, Gus's in Slidell caters to the small net trawler in addition to having a cool little tackle shop. It's a pretty cool little setup.

I wish I could recommend a local shop, but I am not aware of any in MS.
The way we set the tickle chain was to measure the length of the cork line and subtract 3 feet. This will have the tickle chain out in front of the lead line. We always pulled a 16ft super set back trawl. Worked well for us.

David has jigs at Gus'. Great place and Gus is a neat guy.
Talk to David G at church. He should be able to put you on the right track.
Thanks mforsta for hooking us up with some boards. Yet another reason the Bull is a cool place!
Wetland...measure the lead line from eye to eye..and on a small net like that..make your tickler about 2' shorter. Dont buy real heavy chain for that small rig..
Do I see David's Live Bait in the future?

Not at all, we just like a little shrimp to go with out trouts! Lol!
Enjoy the boards. It was a great pleasure to meet you, Adrian and of course Jason. I find it very refreshing to meet parents who are involved their children's activities include and them in yours. Keep up the great job with the kids and enjoy their company, they do grow up to quick.
You might try Tide Marine in Bayou La Batre. Not sure whether Gus' or Tide would be closer for you but both have good trawling supplies.
