Shrimp

Was supposed to hit the islands this morning but the trip got cancelled. Got up early to catch some live bait and hit the mother load In bait sized shrimp. Was catching 10-40 shrimp every throw. There were small pogies everywhere also. Every now and then an area half the size of a football field would start boiling with pogies and something blowing up on them. Threw top water and live shrimp but never had a strike.

Bought ten pounds Wednesday morning at the Biloxi docks, all exactly ten count for 7 bucks the pound. Man, did they smell sweet like salt water! Just caught the night before. After the 4th and as the warm water grows the smaller ones, price should drop. Supposed to be a better-than-average shrimp year.
Speaking of the shrimp dock behind the Hard Rock, can you get them 7 days/week? The wife and I are thinking about coming down next weekend and would like to pick some up early Sunday morning before heading back home.
When the season first opened Willie got boat run shrimp for $2.25 at the Pass harbor.

I don't mind paying for good shrimp at a good price. I married a ****$&& almost 29 years ago and she can cook....I am back down to 175, but was up to 235.....[biggrin]

I don't think that was any kind of s special deal Willie got through his son (Pass Harbor Master) I think that is just what boat run was going for in the Pass at the beginning of the season.

The one I trapped when she was only a baby, 56 years ago from Jefferson Parish, keeps getting prettier and a better cook, day by day. We both done good!

Yes. Got some this morning and some 2 weeks ago on the weekend. Get there early. Starts at 630. Some boats get in a little later but the earlier the better.

Didn't bounce around to see what the best deal was, but found some really nice shrimp this am. 25s or so. $4/lb. Got 10 lb for family lunch...they were awesome! She also had some amazing jumbos. 10s or so. I got 2lb to put on the grill. $7.50 a lb. I'm sure better prices are on the way. And I'm sure I could have found a little cheaper if I would have checked a few boats, but the few other I peeked at had 30s so I was happy with what I got.

I got some 50ct for $2.50/lb 2nd weekend of the season. And I didn't know anyone...just walked up to the boat.
Got them in Ocean Springs last Sunday, $3.00 a pound.
