My wife was greeted by this critter when she got home from work. She did not get a clear picture. Not our usual garter snake.

I think I saw some yellow at belly in this picture. We do see some yellow belly water snakes but have not seen one in a couple of years.

It’s non venomous about all I can tell from that picture. Probably a water snake, Nerodia sp.

I believe that is a plain belly water snake.

This is a harmless yellow bellied watersnake.
