I need to get in that river! Had some guys come in the store last Saturday to buy some spark plugs for their boat. They had been and wore the catfish out! Gonna give it a try very soon!

Be careful cause the carp are terrible.
The carp have invaded everthing that gets connected to the Sunflower and Yazoo river around here. They will knock you out!
How much trouble would a person get in for shooting carp with a 12 gauge as the boat rides down the river? It would be in self defense.
I'm sure you would get in trouble if you got caught! I know it's been done! LOL!

I always thought it would be fun to use a baseball bat. I'd want to have some kind of platform support to keep from falling out as I swung and missed though.
I see a business opportunity. You could run a guide service targeting an invasive species. It's a win win situation.

You talk like you've see it done.?
They have a tournament like that up in Illinois I think. You can youtube it but its pretty funny, guys wearing football helmets and hitting them with spiked bats and boomerangs ha
Byrddog, you need a real job. You slack off too much.

Shhh! My boss looks at this site. Ha ha!
Gonna go tight line a little after work today in the Sunflower River. Hopefully we will bring home a few cats!

Good luck. One thing I've learned on the sunflower is that it needs to be moving! I haven't had any luck when the current is setting still.
We stopped in several spots and had no luck. Finally about 7:00 we stopped in a spot and started catching some good fish. Ended up with five or six nice ones. Water was moving but not fast. River looked low. Will go back next week if water is not rising. Mosquitos at the landing were as bad as I have ever seen mosquitos get!
byrddog what do y'all seem to be having the best luck with as far as bait.

Cut shad for blues and live shad for the flatheads.

What part of the sunflower are you on?
We put in the Sunflower River at Murphy which is on the west side of the river and south of where the bridge on HWY 12 crosses the Sunflower about 4 or 5 miles. I have a friend who has a place to get in the river just north of that bridge and we may try that sometime. We were using worms and they bit those pretty good. Would have liked to try some live bait but just didn't have time to aquire some. I will tell you this! We got back to the landing at dark and that was the worst mosquitos I have ever seen! You could not hardly breath! I would love to camp and fish but without a generator, there is no way. I only live about 12 miles from the Sunflower River and the Yazoo River is like 1/2 mile from my house. Camping would be fun though!
I was at Washington a while back and the skeeters were terrible! I fish south of there at Holly Bluff.
