My BIL and I picked up a lease in Warren County this year and decided to try throw and grow method for planting food plots. We sprayed the plots the first of October and then waited for rain. Finally we had some rain in the forecast so we picked up wheat and a five way seed from Johnson milling on 28 Oct. I spread it a little heavy per acre (guessing 120-150 pounds/acre) and we bush-hogged the plots. Took my son this past Sunday for youth weekend and the plots are looking great and deer were already hitting them. We saved a ton of time and money using the throw and grow method and not disking.

Glad to hear it. Much easier and less time consuming than disking.

Ours have come on strong since the first decent rain on October 26, but prior to that they were thin. We have received almost 4 inches since 10/26. After the rain last weekend and the warm humid weather this week, everything should fill in nicely.
