I broke my ankle cruising timber January 26th. I have been in a cast for a month now and will get a walking boot monday but still cant put any weight on it for another 2 weeks. Any suggestions on how to turkey hunt with one good leg?

sorry to hear about the accident man. My suggestion would be do like the old-timers did. Find a spot where you know there are birds and slip in and set up. call softly and occasionally and just wait out an old gobbler. He may have hens early so he may leave with them or he may quit gobbling but just sit tight cause there is a good chance he will come back looking for you later. If he doesn't come back, a subordinate gobbler may try to slip in and pick you up silently without the gobbler knowing so have your gaurd up and be patient

limhangr gave you the scoop. Thats what I would do and had to do 3 years ago. Broke ankle the day before the opener. While it was still jet black dark, I drove the golf cart to within about 100 yards of where I knew some field turkeys liked to roost. Parked the cart up in the bushes and hobbled around a bend in the filed. I didn't make a sound until the birds gobbled on their own. I made a few tree yelps and within a few minutes a gobbler pitched straight down in front of me. The only thing that could have been more perfect that day is if I didn't have a dang broken ankle. I can guarantee you this....the whole time I was listening to those birds, I didn't even know I had an ankle!

one thing is for sure forester you will leave one strange yelp mark(boot print) this year walking through the woods with that walking boot on. The turkeys ain't gonna have a clue whats after them when they come across your track!!lol

I do have a golf cart. Hope it gets me close enough to take care of business in a few weeks. Walking any distance is out of question until I get permission from the doc to put some weight on this bad boy.
Just do what the doctor says.I broke the heel of my foot several years ago but I did everything the Doc said now i cant tell I broke it

Do like the rest of us and walk. I fell out of a tree on my head with broke ribs punctured lung and cut liver and still walked around and got up in stands. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and man up!!! I will help you a little but i aint got time for a cry baby!! Oh yeah, If you are well enough to walk in Margaritas and have a cold one you are plenty well enough to walk a couple hundred yards and kill a turkey!

I had a friend who died 2 years ago that had polio. When I took him turkey hunting, he could get around on his 2 crutches pretty good so we just hunted as if I was by myself. The only problem we had was trying to hide the crutches when we set up on a bird.....
