Haven't had any luck the last 2 years. River has stayed too high too late into the summer. Caught 6 last Saturday and 0 the Saturday before.
Your exactly right. Biologist did a study last year on oxygen levels in the river since fishermen were complaining about fishing quality and lack of numbers of bass, perch, and brim being caught in the river fed lakes from Greenville to Natchez. They found a distinct lack of oxygen in the first level of the water column. This year is no different. For the last 2 years we have either struck out or caught VERY few perch in one particular river fed lake we fish. Before 2 years ago 15-20 perch was a bad day. Now 10 perch is unheard of. Didn't seem to hurt the catfish since they mostly hug the bottom feeding.I have had the same problem for the last two years also. Last year I was told the oxygen level was low and this year I was told the asian carp that has moved in has had an effect on the bass. Who knows what the problem is but the fish want hardly bite when I used to fill coolers full every time I went. Very frustrating and confusing.
After watching the news, it has to be because of George Bush. He seems to be the blame for everything else recently.[omg]That just seamed strange to me of hearing oxygen levels are low being a moving body of water and for so long of time. What could be causing this problem?

That's a good one![thumbup][thumbup]After watching the news, it has to be because of George Bush. He seems to be the blame for everything else recently.[omg]
So what are you saying, he peed in the water up stream? [rofl]After watching the news, it has to be because of George Bush. He seems to be the blame for everything else recently.[omg]
They dang sure haven't helped anything! [mad][mad]Totally unscientific opinion here, but I think the Asian carp are doing a lot more harm to the river ecosystem than anyone has or will admit. Those of you that catch frongs, how has the frog hunting been since their population exploded? I think they can be attributed to a lot of things going on.
Makes sense. Had another unsuccessful trip Sunday. This information is about as complete as I can come up with. The good news is, it should get better soon.
